I took a detour that night after my trip to the antique store. I passed along back streets, out of the way plazas, anywhere that looked like it might afford me new scenery. I stumbled across El Portal behind the headquarters of the Planetary Society, its aromas drawing my attention before I’d even rounded the corner to lay site on the place.

I just smelled fresh mulch for the first time this year. Pungent, warm, green. I could feel the natural heat of it as they scooped it off the back of a flatbed as I walked by on the street.
I’ve received some very nice compliments while I’ve been here this week. It’s always great to get positive feedback for the work you put in. It makes a big difference in your day. 👨🏻💻🦸🏻♂️
