Sunset on Oahu

In December 2018 Kassi and I had the remarkable good fortune to spend a week in Honolulu on a remote work assignment for one of my favorite clients. We didn’t pass up the opportunity for her to tag along, and no one seemed to mind. We tacked on a couple of days at our expense to explore the island, and I can say we made the most of every minute there. It was a wonderful, blessed time that we will surely never forget.

I don’t believe I ever posted any photos from that trip on this site, but the set from Sunset Beach, which we caught appropriately enough just as the sun was dipping over the horizon, was probably my favorite. I could have used my Nikon zoom to get some nice closeups of those surfers, but I didn’t have it at the time. Just as well, because I would have lost the moment to capture those magnificent waves against the darkening stormy sky. I’d surely never seen such a beautiful view of the ocean.

As were packing up to leave we noticed that the local authorities had arrived to block off the roads. There was a military convoy cruising by as part of the filming for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. I’m looking forward to watching the movie to see if I can spot the scene from that day at the beach. (And no, you won’t see us in the background. 😑)
